COMP1710: Laboratory 6: Finish Assignment 1, Catch up!

Objectives

The object of this lab is to finish assignment 1, and to catch up with journals 1-5 and labs 1-5.

Tasks

Task 1: Review

Make sure you have read all the online lecture notes, and instructions for the assignment, and labs 1-5. (I have edited lab 5 to reflect what we asked you to do in the lab).

Task 2: Finish assignment 1

Its due soon, at Monday 5th of May 2008 (week 9) at 5 pm.

Task 3: Post your Cartoon strip from Lab 5

The tutors have told me that the comic strips you created for lab 5 (in week 7) were so good that I have created a xanga page especially to showcase them.

The page is at www.xanga.com/comics1710 and the password is "everyone". Please take a moment to upload your comic strip to the photos page - and don't be afraid to compliment other peoples "works of graphic art".

Please also create a link from your lab entry for this lab on your own Xanga page to your comic on the comics1710 page.

Task 4: Catch up with Journals

Is there anything you want to add, to improve your marks? You have now had more time, and more experience in doing journal entries, so you can improve your learning journal. Please look at the Sample learning journal from last year if you need an example.

Ask yourself questions like: Is my journal long enough? Does it say more than just "I had [fun|hated] this weeks lab?" Does it show the tutor I have absorbed the lecture/lecture notes for the week? Does it consist of more than just cut and pasted lecture notes? Tip: It is probably a good idea to have seperate journal entries for each weeks lab and lecture material.

The last chance to get marks for learning journal entries for the previous weeks is Sunday 4th May (i.e., next weekend).

From this week onwards (journals 6-10) will be marked harder, and there may not be a chance to catch up again.

From this week onwards, journals will be marked strictly at the end of the week (Sunday midnight).

Task 5: Catch up with Labs

Is there any part of a lab you haven't done yet? Do go back and finish it now.

From this week onwards, labs will be marked strictly at the end of the week (Sunday midnight), and there may not be a chance to catch up again.

Task 6: Update your learning journal/events

Your learning journal talks about your thoughts about what you've learnt in the course this week, including the lectures.

Please don't forget to create an entry for today's lab which gives a brief description of what you've done.
